We are seeking to hire a skilled, experienced HSSE Manager for one of our client.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Details of the Services to be delivered by the HSSE Manager are:
Health & Safety Management
Specific activities to be performed by the appointed EHS Manager are:
EHS Compliance Assurance (regulatory, company and customer), completion of the documentary part of the Nigeria EHS Management System, Implementation of EHS Programs with primary emphasis but not limited to:
Contractor EHS Management, Working in Heights, Electrical Safety, Safe Driving, Radio Frequency Safety, EHS Training Development/adaptation and delivery, Adoption of needed EHS Programs and Controls (i.e. Environmental Impacts and Waste Management), EHS Site Inspections/Audits, preparation and implementation of the company Project EHS Plans
To ensure the company’s Health and Safety Policy is implemented consistently across the organization.
To monitor, evaluate and review Health and Safety policy and practice, make recommendations, and implement new policies and procedures as required.
To assist in the identification of training needs for employees and develop suitable OHS training with Company’s HSSE Department.
The HSSE Manager is responsible for the day to day operational support of the projects
To support managers to maintain safe systems, providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support.
To assist managers, implement health and safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) in a consistent and effective manner.
To ensure routine health and safety activities and checks are carried out e.g. monthly H&S inspections and the review of risk assessments.
To investigate, the circumstances and causes of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence.
Take action to mitigate the impact and likelihood of health and safety risks
The duties of Security Manager include but are not limited to the following;
Crime Prevention and Investigation
Responsible for maintaining a secure environment through ensuring the security of the company’s Offices.
Act as liaison between the company and local security agencies such as police, fire, and any safety regulatory bodies.
Provide and updated procedures to reduce any internal theft/losses.
Provide and updated procedures for the security escort regarding employees, VIP, Travelers, missionaries
Ensure that all reports are completed properly and in a timely manner to ensure that all matters are duly communicated, and all necessary actions are commenced as soon as required.
Coordinate investigations of all security incidents and reports to the CSO and his HSSE OPS Manager.
Must learn to personally conduct door lock readings, CCTV surveillance equipment, etc., to handle sensitive investigations.
Maintain control of departmental keys to ensure that only the assigned/authorized personnel have access to critical areas/operations.
Control access to critical areas where the need for access arises outside of normal operating hours for that area.
Contribute to ensuring all employees adhere to all security policies/procedures regarding the company sites in the country.
Assist the Manager (CSO) in establishing and maintaining procedures to ensure that specific actions will take place in the event of an emergency.
Ensure that all required checks, tests, and inspections are completed in a timely manner where required to ensure compliance with all code and regulation requirements and ensure that all records are properly maintained as required.
Ensure that all staff are properly trained in emergency procedures and maintain an ongoing training/retraining program to ensure that all staff are always familiar with procedures.
Conduct regular and irregular inspections of the company sites to ensure that the safety and security of the staff, suppliers and customers are not being compromised by potentially dangerous situations.
Through implementation of policies and procedures, ensure that company sites maintain full compliance with all legislative acts including occupational health and Safety Act and regulations. To include training/retraining of matters where necessary for all departments.
Maintain a high level of general concern for workplace safety, amongst all group staff through implementation of various policies and procedures.
Ensure all security staffs are properly trained in emergency procedures at all times.
Review daily activities of security officers on all shifts.
Complete regular staff (employees, security guards…) appraisals for each staff member and conduct corrective interviews with staff if necessary.
Ensure all employees are neat and clean appearance in dress and report for duty on time as scheduled and perform to set standards.
Establish and maintain effective means of communication and working rapport with Managers, Employees/suppliers, and other stakeholders in the company activities.
ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALITIES
Commercial field experience in Health & Safety management, Security management and estates management
Recent proven and demonstrable successful employment experience in a similar role in a Corporate Organization in a multi-national fast paced operational environment.
Very good knowledge of the country.
National Certificate in Health and Safety (NEBOSH) or equivalent.
Experience in managing OHSA 18001 (Occupational Health & Safety).
Military background is an added value.
